AI wrote the game code. Why does it not work?

Reproduce the failure, identify which layer is wrong, and give the assistant the relevant project context. A focused repair is easier to verify than a rewrite of the whole game.

A troubleshooting method for engine projects. The examples are illustrative, not recorded model failures.

Find the layer that is failing

Do not let a movement script take the blame for an unassigned input action. Check what the engine is actually doing before collecting another version of the same code.

Write a bug report with a starting point

Include exact error text when there is an error. Include the scene hierarchy when the script depends on it. For a timing issue, give the shortest sequence you can repeat. Keep unrelated files available, but lead with the evidence.

A brief to make your own

Starting from a fresh round, I collect one parcel, fall, and press restart. The parcel is back on screen, but the counter still says one. Expected: all round state resets. Engine version: [version]. Relevant files and the reset flow: [context]. Find the cause and propose a focused repair. Check winning and restarting afterward too.

Review what the fix changes

Ask which files changed and why. If the assistant replaced a whole system to fix one counter, inspect that decision. Sometimes a deeper repair is right, but it creates more behavior to check.

Keep a working checkpoint. After the fix, repeat the failing sequence and a normal playthrough. Then restart twice. A surprisingly large amount of state behaves well exactly once.

Stop the repair loop when evidence stops improving

If several changes fail in different ways, go back to the last understood state. Reduce the example. Remove unrelated systems from a copy until the failure is easier to see. Do not keep stacking speculative patches on an unexplained problem.

A model can sound certain while missing a project detail. Give it new evidence, not just another request to try harder. If the remaining issue needs knowledge or tools you do not have, get help with that specific gap.

Put your idea to work with the Dashpop Game Engine. Describe a game, play it quickly, and shape it yourself. Start with one change you can test.
